Woman in Oklahoma City sentenced for running a drug ring

On Behalf of | Oct 1, 2020 | DUI - Prescription Drugs |

A woman has been arrested and sentenced to 25 years in prison for running a methamphetamine ring out of a house on Oklahoma City. Three of her associates were also arrested and sentenced to multiple years in prison for taking part in the drug ring. All four women plead guilty to the charges, which included possessing meth with intent to sell and possessing firearms as part of the drug ring.

The head of the drug ring had been released from prison only two months prior after serving time for drug crimes. When local authorities witnessed drug-related activity at the house, they arrested the woman on May 8, 2019. The authorities performed a search of the house where they found over 68 pounds of meth, 13 firearms and tens of thousands of dollars in cash.

How to proceed after being charged with drug crimes

Drug charges can include possession, manufacture, distribution and possession with intent to sell of illegal drugs as well as participation in a drug trafficking ring. A drug charge can range from a misdemeanor to a felony depending on the severity of the charge. Either way, individuals with drug charges might be facing massive penalties, years of jail time and other punishments like mandatory community service.

To prepare for their case, an individual with drug charges might wish to hire an attorney. Their attorney may assess their case and evaluate the strength of the accusations. The attorney may be able to find flaws in the prosecution’s story and argue for reduced fees and minimal jail time. If their client was falsely accused, they might be able to get the case dismissed altogether. Additionally, an attorney may help their client negotiate for a lighter sentence in the case of a guilty plea.
